"He held a spoon halfway to his lips, head tilted as he listened to the minstrel in the corner plucking at the strings of his lute. His head cocked, his mouth relaxed into a smile. For a moment, all the lines etched into his face by time, stress, the road, and—maybe, if I were honest—even me; all of them simply vanished.
Sitting there in that griffon-crested tunic, I wondered if this—at long last—was the Anders Nathaniel had known."

Full View please? It might be nicer that way.
A scene I really really liked from ~high0castle's Dragon Age II fanfic, A Sea Without A Shore which you can read here [link] . The fanfic is a sequel to A Distant Ray of Light [link] (written by the same author) which is also the story one of my fanarts is based on!
^yay for my new premium |D
This scene takes place in Chapter 14 of the fanfic and it shows a tiiny moment of Anders smiling. I think it's symbolically a glimpse into Anders's old self, so I wanted Anders to appear a little younger in the picture than he actually is. Hence the absence of eyebags and wrinkles and-- /sobs And omg I've drawn Anders hundreds of times but still can't seem to get his freaking face right. D; I'll keep trying though.
You should read the fanfic if you haven't already! It's amazingly heart-wrenching.
and i think you did well with Anders *nods*
Now if we could just get Hawke to smile a bit it'd be perfect ;D
poor things, having to deal with so much trouble....
